MIT's AI for Flood Prep 🌊🧠

MIT has made a new computer tool to help with floods.

The tool uses AI to show what could happen when floods strike. It creates pictures from above, like the ones satellites take, to show which places might flood.

These pictures help towns and cities get ready for floods before they happen.

Leaders can see which neighborhoods might be in danger. They can plan the best ways for people to escape if a flood comes. They can also figure out where to put supplies and emergency workers.

In the past, people usually waited until after a flood to take action. But this new tool lets them prepare ahead of time.

City planners can use it to make better choices about where to build things and how to help people during floods.

Google Gemini 1.5 Pro Enhances AI Utility 💎📈

Scientists at MIT have created a new computer program called LucidSim.

This program helps train robots without using real-world practice.

Instead, it creates fake (but realistic) worlds where robots can learn new skills.

LucidSim makes training robots easier and safer. It's also cheaper because robots don't break things while they're learning!

The program can create many different situations for robots to practice in.

One cool example is how they used LucidSim to teach a robot dog to do parkour (jumping and climbing over things). The robot dog practices in the fake world until it gets really good at moving around. This helps it do better when it faces real obstacles.

This new way of training robots could help them do more jobs in the future. They might help during disasters or work in factories.

AI for Urban Tree Monitoring 🌳🔍

MIT has made a new computer tool called "Tree-D Fusion."

This tool creates digital copies of trees that grow in cities.

It's like making a computer twin of each real tree.

Tree-D Fusion uses AI to monitor the growth and changes of city trees. It can also tell when trees are healthy or sick.

The tool examines factors that affect trees, such as weather and pollution.

Cities can use this information to better care for their trees.

They can spot problems early before the trees get too sick. The tool also helps people plan where to plant new trees.

How cool!
